Controversial annexation one step closer to reality | News
SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) - Some residents of Sylvania Township may be one step closer to joining the city.
Lucas County Commissioners accepted petitions from residents of Arbor Way in the township who want to be annexed to the City of Sylvania Tuesday morning.
That opens the door to a hearing in late May where residents both in favor of and against the annexation will have a chance to weigh in.
Those in favor say they want to join the city to get access to services like leaf pickup, street lighting and sewer connection.
About 70 percent of the home owners on Arbor Way signed petitions asking for the annexation.
The Lucas County Commission will schedule a hearing on May 21st.
